Nutty Feta Dough Balls

Writer's picture: stelladrezstelladrez

This recipe uses my bere naan bread dough (https://www.stelladrez.co.uk/post/beremeal-naan-bread) and sees it stuffed with a yummy mixture of feta and nuts. Feel free to use other nuts or seeds, depending on what you have available at home.

Ingredients:

  • Approx. 200 g bere naan dough

  • 140 g feta cheese, crumbled

  • 1/3 cup Brazil nuts

  • 1/3 cup walnuts

  • 1/2 tsp Chilli flakes or powder

  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Melted butter, for brushing the dough balls

Method:

  1. Pre heat your oven to 200 degrees C.

  2. Oil a baking tray, large enough to fit the dough balls snugly within.

  3. Blitz or finely chop the nuts. Mix together with the chilli flakes, feta, vinegar and olive oil. Set aside.

  4. Oil your hands, tear a small amount of dough, about the size of a large golf ball, and stretch it thinly. Place a tablespoon of the feta mixture in the middle of the dough, pull the edges of the dough together, seal and from into a ball. Place in an oiled baking tray. Do the same with the rest of the dough until the feta mixture is all used up. Brush with melted butter and bake for 20 to 30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
